What is Webster's Technique?

Active Health Chiropractic specializes in the treatment of pregnant women, as chiropractic care during pregnancy is very important for the health and well-being of the mother-to-be. Women who receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can establish pelvic balance and optimize the room a baby has for development throughout pregnancy. With a balanced pelvis, babies have a greater chance of moving into the correct position for birth, and the crisis and worry associated with breech and posterior presentations may be avoided altogether. Optimal baby positioning at the time of birth also eliminates the potential for dystocia (difficult labor) and therefore results in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and baby.

Dr. Tracy is Webster Technique Certified

Additionally, Dr. Tracy is the only chiropractor in Sykesville who is certified in a specialized treatment, known as the Webster Technique. Larry Webster, D.C., founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), developed this specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment, which enables chiropractors to establish balance in the pregnant woman’s pelvis and reduce undue stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. This balanced state in the pelvis has been clinically shown to allow for optimal fetal positioning.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment that reduces the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. Sacral misalignment may contribute to uterine nerve interference, pelvic misalignment, and the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. The resulting tense muscles and ligaments, and their aberrant effect on the uterus, may prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth.

Dr. Tracy is certified by the ICPA to perform the Webster Technique, which has an 82% success rate in turning a breech baby’s positioning. Over the past 12 years, Dr. Tracy has helped numerous mothers-to-be alleviate the stress of a breech presentation. Her success rate for the Webster Technique has been nearly 90% when the treatment is given before the 36th week of pregnancy.
